We have opened Peloton up for use after upgrading compute and storage nodes to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
The HPCCF is making some changes to the systems that it supports to ensure consistency to improve customer service. Please note the following changes because of the upgrade:
The operating system that powers Peloton, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, reached end-of-life on April 30, 2023. As a result, Ubuntu 18.04 is no longer receiving updates.
We will be upgrading the operating system on HPC1 from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04 starting on Monday, May 8th and continuing through Monday, May 15th. HPC1 will be unavailable at this time.
We are still working through some issues related to the Ubuntu 22.04 upgrade on Farm. Although we don’t foresee any major blockers, it is taking longer than we expect.
The spring data center generator test will be taking place on Friday, April 7th at 6 a.m. Power to the systems in the data center will be temporarily rerouted to the generator twice during this maintenance window.

At noon on 7/29, UC Davis main campus experienced campus-wide power outage affecting compute equipment in all 4 server rooms. The HPC team is working to restore HPC operations. Please submit a ticket if you continue experiencing any issues.
Facilities is planning to complete the maintenance work previously interrupted by complications that arose from both COVID and the wildfires. We have upgrades scheduled to be done on the server room's cooling system during the week of December 14th.
Please note there is a maintenance date scheduled by Facilities for October 1st, when all hardware must be powered off for a data center emergency generator test. HPC team has put a Slurm job scheduling system reservations to avoid this time frame.
